Let us introduce you to Veronika, Head of Due Diligence at TrustPay, in this interview.

Why did you choose TrustPay?

I saw the potential for further development of my work experience and knowledge at TrustPay, as I perceived the company as innovative, evolving, and adept at handling the constantly emerging challenges of new technologies and changing trends in the field in which it operates successfully.

First and foremost, I was attracted by an interesting job offer, and my good first impression was reinforced by the pleasant feelings of the people I communicated with during the interview. These were important points for me, based on which I decided to accept this job.

Last but not least, I was intrigued by the young team mentioned in the advertisement, as when I joined the company, I was 25 years old, and the words from the ad proved to be true. I work in a team of young people with whom I get along well, and we are tuned in to a similar wavelength. 😊

What position are you currently working in, and what do you enjoy most about it?

I am currently working in the compliance department, which deals with compliance with generally binding legal regulations as well as internal standards, and I am freshly in the position of Head of Due Diligence. In my work, I am currently focusing the most on the area of so-called ‘four eyes control‘ within our department – to ensure that documentation is complete, that data is entered correctly into the system, and many other tasks whose result is a ‘check’ to see if everything is in order.

I am also responsible for communicating with various parties with whom we have or are entering into contractual relationships, subjecting us to KYC control (Know Your Customer). Within this realm, I am responsible for correctly completing and providing the necessary documentation.

Among my duties is training all our employees in AML (Anti Money-Laundering). This obligation arises from AML laws, which require every employee to undergo certain forms of professional training depending on their job classification. Personally, I have found that this aspect of my role has helped me better manage stress when presenting to multiple people. Additionally, since training preparation and delivery are integral to this role, I see it as an opportunity for further personal development.

I enjoy the diversity in my work. For instance, when I’ve had ‘enough’ of checking certain points, I focus on documentation, or vice versa. I’m glad that my work isn’t monotonous.

“I like it when the work changes, and I can try out different things. Even within our department, I have managed to try out several agendas, which I see as a positive thing, as it has expanded my professional horizons and enabled me to better understand the functioning of processes both within the company and within the department.”

What do you value most about your work, and what is your biggest challenge at the moment?

At the beginning of my journey at TrustPay, I highly appreciated, and still do, that I got this job opportunity while still a final year student at university. Thanks to the understanding of my superiors, I could combine completing my studies with a smooth transition into full-time work.

Reflecting on the present, a major positive aspect of my work would be the aforementioned workload dynamics. I like it when the work changes, and I can try out different things. Even within our department, I have managed to try out several agendas, which I see as a positive thing, as it has expanded my professional horizons and enabled me to better understand the functioning of processes both within the company and within the department.

I’ve faced challenges multiple times during my time at TrustPay. For example, as I previously mentioned, I had to conquer my fear of presenting or explaining topics to a group. Presently, I’m tackling a new challenge linked to my transition to the Head of Due Diligence role. This shift brings added responsibilities and a range of challenges that I must navigate.

TrustPay team - Veronika

What are your relationships with colleagues within the company, and how do you evaluate TrustPay’s corporate culture?

The foundation of any successful and efficient work team is good interpersonal relationships, which, in my opinion, should work among colleagues. From my perspective, I can say that I appreciate the friendly atmosphere I feel at work. I consider many of the colleagues I have met at TrustPay not only as work colleagues but also as friends with whom I enjoy spending time, even outside of work. As a manifestation of our good relationships, many have noticed that, for example, we always spend lunch breaks together as a whole department.

Any fun moments from working at TrustPay?

It’s hard to mention just one funny moment. Since I get along with my colleagues, I can say that we have a similar sense of humor to a certain extent; we often have fun and laugh at work.
